Judicial Appointments

The Judicial Appointments Committee identifies appointment opportunities for those interested in serving as judicial officers, promotes diversity in judicial appointments, and encourages VCAABA members to consider serving as bench officers.

Goals:

• Gain at least one Asian American jurist on the bench in Ventura County
• Increase the numbers of Asian American applicants for judicial appointments

Pro Bono/Community Outreach

The Pro Bono/Community Outreach Committee encourages pro bono service among attorneys, links pro bono attorneys with existing pro bono service programs in the community, provides legal information and educational outreach to our Asian American, Pacific Islander communities in Ventura County.

Goals:

• Increase participation of attorneys in pro bono service, particularly among those practicing in underrepresented arenas, such as corporate council, government attorneys, and certified legal specialists.
• Establish networks with community organizations, social service agencies, and others assisting Asian immigrant populations to identify unmet legal needs and through effective collaboration, better meet those needs.
