The Ventura County Asian American Bar Association is accepting applications for its 2009 Scholarship from presently enrolled law students who live, work, go to school, are from, or have any other connection to Ventura County. The VCAABA scholarship is awarded at the beginning of each year to student(s) as selected by the VCAABA Scholarship Committee, Officers and Board. Applications received at this time will be considered for the 2009 award.
The scholarship candidate must demonstrate an interest and commitment to serving the Asian American community through past or present activities. The scholarship is intended to also encourage and promote the pursuit of future pro bono/public interest work relating to the Asian American community.

2008 VCAABA SCHOLARHIP AWARD RECIPIENT
VCAABA is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2008 VCAABA Scholarship Award. This year's recipient received $2,000 to help them with their studies at law school. VCAABA is proud to congratulate:
ANGELA BUENDIA Angela Buendia is currently a 3rd Year Law student at the Southem California Institute of Law in Ventura County. Ms. Buendia would like to work and specialize in Immigration Law. She obtained her Bachelors of Science Degree majoring in Business Administration in her home town, Manila, Philippines in 1993.

2007 VCAABA SCHOLARHIP AWARD RECIPIENTS
VCAABA is pleased to announce the first ever recipients of the VCAABA Scholarship Awards. Each recipient received $1,000 to help them with their studies at law school. VCAABA is proud to congratulate:
KATHY LUONG Ms. Luong, a local Ventura County resident, is a 3rd year student at the University of San Francisco School of Law. She is a Publishing Editor with the school's Journal of Law & Social Challenges. Ms. Luong obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Asian American Studies and Public Policy from UCLA, where she graduated magna cum laude. Ms. Luong aspires to utilize her Vietnamese language skills to empower people through the law.
SOPHIA PAK Ms. Pak, a local resident, is a 3rd year student at the Ventura College of Law. Ms. Pak obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosphy from UCLA. Ms. Pak wants to become an effective advocate in the Asian American community against domestic violence. Ms. Pak also aspires to practice in the area of labor law to help promote the rights of workers, especially those of Asian immigrants.
